“I have learned the secret of being content whatever the circumstances, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”
This Saturday will be my 6 month mark. For the past 6 months I have lived within the “confines” of a strict eating protocol to address inflammation in my body. When this was first suggested to me, I said ” no way!” ” can’t do it!” ” won’t do it” ” you’ve got to be kidding!” I never stopped to think that getting healthier might be something Jesus could actually help me with. I thought that HE healed by a miraculous wave of his hand, not by helping me change my ways. I had much to learn.
I was living under the belief that because I failed at diets a million times over–I would fail again. I believed that I could not live without my beloved bread, my daily chemically loaded food bars or my frequent crunchy snacks. No way! Maybe you believe this too.
Where does this come from?
We are clearly told in Scripture that we can go to Christ for grace, strength and help. Yet we still believe, or agree with, the lie that we can’t do something? We see in Scripture that most times the journey into FREEDOM involves denying ourselves, yet we don’t want to deny ourselves, it’s much to painful and not fun. What if, God in HIS mercy wanted to give you the grace to deny yourself the things that contribute to your poor health. What if, God in HIS strength could enable you to do for the first time something you have never been able to do in your strength alone. What if, God really cared about the quality of our lives not just the length of our days?
Satan is filled with lies, negative contracts for us to come into agreement with. He waves them at us and we quickly agree. He doesn’t have to do much because we too quickly fall prey to the, I can’t do it, belief.
Guess what? When you can’t, He can. It’s OK that you tried a million times and failed. You can win this time. It doesn’t matter how old you are, you can change through Christ. Don’t believe me? Take a look at TRUTH!
“For we do not have a hight priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are–yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
Today are you agreeing with truth? The truth that you can find mercy and grace to help you? Or are you agreeing with the shame and lies that you can’t do it? You are not alone. You have a loving God who desires to set you free in any area where you are stuck. Approach him today. In approaching HIM you are going to a throne of grace. How beautiful.
Picture yourself approaching a loving God who never desires to shame you but who holds you into the arms of grace, strength and help in all of your needs.
