Twinkle lights, colored lights and led lights are everywhere this month. The more sparkle, the better. Lights on necklaces, sweaters and hats. Lighting of trees, houses and stores seems to be an important part of this season. I personally love the twinkle of white lights and have even put a small table top tree in our master bedroom this year. I admit I am a decorating junkie! I love to decorate!
But what I love the most is how God decorates our hearts. He goes deep into the interior of a women’s life and begins a work that turns the light of life and love on, making her someone different from what she was before His touch. His Light is what Christmas is all about.
Day 16 His Light is the Light of Men!
“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
We all know what it’s like to have the lights off. Just last week there were several power outages in California after a storm hit following a long drought. No power means no light. No light means stumbling in darkness. No light means candles which are beautiful but they don’t have the same power.
Likewise, your candle, though beautiful does not have the same power of love that you would have when plugged in and charged up with the power, light and love of Christ. This season is only the beginning. We are acknowledging Christ and why He came to earth. He came that He might be our light, our life and our love.
Pause today and reflect on the power that is necessary to make it through the dark times. Thank Him that He is with you. And, celebrate the light of life today!
with Christmas joy,
