As we scan the internet, the kids lists, the store sales for just the right gift, let us remember the GIFT of Christ and all He came to be in our lives this Christmas. When we remember His Benefits ( Psalm 103) and receive his promises, we are filled with peace and a steadiness that can only come from something bigger than ourselves. But when we forget, we live like orphaned children, filled with fear, anxiety and stress.
“The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” which means, ” God with us”. Matthew 1:23
The greatest promise that leads to peace is His presence with us.
The past two days of the 30 days of Sparkle are:
Day 10: He is With Us
Day 11: He Came to Set us Free
Today take time to Thank God that He is with YOU. This means He is present with you, participating in your life and that you are never alone. And, while you are at it, thank Him that He is your freedom.
Truly whom the Lord sets free, is free indeed!
I have been experiencing both in such a great measure the past 8 months. Last March I woke up in a hotel, with no distance vision. I was scheduled to speak at a Women’s Conference that day and could not see past my hands. I determined to continue on with the day and speak by faith. It’s not something I normally do, but that day I knew I should. Strangely all fear was absent and I carried on, because He was with me and He was giving me the freedom in that moment to live totally by faith.
The conference was themed after my book, ” A Woman Who Trusts God.”! I readily admit that I don’t trust the Lord the way I wish I did, but I am learning through each new experience on the journey how to trust Him more. That day was a big part of that faith journey. Not being able to see past the podium was a new experience, but God was with me.
Turned out that the vision problem was most likely caused by a cancer drug I was on. A very rare reaction but it happened and as a result my faith was tested and strengthened beginning that day in March. After that, taken off all cancer medication, my Dr. suggested that I change my lifestyle to reduce chance of reoccurrence. This meant radically changing diet and beginning to exercise, while learning to reduce stress. I remember saying ” I can’t do this!”
But, I am learning that obedience is an act of worship. And as I obeyed and became responsible about my health I began to realize that God was indeed with me in the battle and He was working to set me free from a life long battle with diet and food if I obeyed in this season. The vision loss and the fear of not being able to take the chemo preventive drug for 5 years, gave me the motivation I had always need to take care of myself. It was a gift but at the time seemed like a huge disappointment.
Friends, because He is always with us, let is remember this:
Our disappointments, are God’s reappointments!
Each day I have experienced his presence guiding me. The freedom has extended into many areas. God is so good, so with us, so powerful to deliver us.
Let us NOT FORGET the GIFT!
What is it that you are needing to receive his deliverance in today? How have you experienced his presence with you this year?
you encourage others as you share your story!
